Recently, Sean Galea-Pace caught up with long-serving midfielder Andrew Fisk on his thoughts ahead of the new season.

How has pre-season been for you so far?
It's been a good start. It's been great to blow the cobwebs away. We've had a few hard training sessions but Godders and Reyns have said it's only going to get harder so we'll look forward to that! But it's good to meet all the new lads, learn a few names and just get together again. It just seems like the off-season just flew by and we're back again! But Godders and Reyns have really freshened things up and training has begun really well!

What's been keeping you busy during the summer holiday-wise?
I had my first-born in January so it was good to spend some proper time with the family. We went over to the Lake District for a week and it was good to just unwind.

You're going into your tenth pre-season as a Lowestoft Town player. Although only early days, how does this pre-season compare to your previous ones at the club?
It's a lot different. It's a little strange because the club is in transition and everyone is aware of the issues we've had in the past couple of seasons. I'm a senior lad now, I'm not getting any younger so it's been good to see some younger guys come through!

But with Godders and Reyns coming back, it's an exciting time for the club as well. It's a nice change and they want to do their bit with getting the town involved so it's very exciting from that point of view. It's obviously going to be a tough season, we've lost a lot of good, experienced players.

We're coming into a new league with new teams which is going to be interesting to visit new grounds. But, I'm fully aware of the task at hand and how difficult it is going to be but we've just got to give it our best.

How is it for you, having played with both Godbold and Reynolds, to now be managed by them?
It's been a few years since they've been away from the club but it's no different really. They've got their same personalities; they haven't changed. They're approachable and easy to get on with which are great traits to have as managers. I suppose the only difference is that I have to listen to them now!

What are your personal aims for the season?
Over the last few years, my fitness levels haven't quite been what they were and I've had a few injuries so I'd like to injury-freean injury free spell and get a few games under my belt. I'd like to keep racking up my appearances for the club and chase down 400 games for the club. But to be honest, my main aim is to get back to enjoying playing football again. That's all I want. Last year was a difficult season and to be honest, I didn't enjoy it.

Obviously, staying up was brilliant and the game at Met Police was excellent but the things going on behind the scenes weren't great. But it's a fresh start for everyone, and this season I just want to get back to being on the pitch and enjoying football again!
