Lowestoft ladies made the short journey to play in form and Norfolk County cup winners Acle for their final league game of the season.

With the league and cup secured Lowestoft were looking to secure their 26th consecutive league and cup win and in doing so become the first team in 19 years to go the whole season in the ERWFL premier division without dropping a single point and become only the second team ever to achieve this.

This they did in style with a sensational performance running out 10-0 victors and giving one of their best performances of the season. To be able to do this at the end of a very long season says so much about the team as a group who have delivered every single week and have had to dig deep to get the win on several occasions.

Once again the defence were superb and its worth pointing out that the team has only conceded 2 goals in their last 11 league games. A remarkable achievement in itself. From the kick-off Lowestoft seized control of the game and the midfield trio of Broghan Scully, Chloe Hoffman and the superb Paige Shorten grabbed control of the game and were soon orchestrating chances for the front 3 of Zoe Cossey, Hannah Waters and captain Natasha Thomas who between them have scored an unbelievable 117 goals in all competitions this season.

First half saw Lowestoft score 5 goals courtesy of a Hannah Waters hat-trick and goals for Natasha Thomas and Paige Shorten who also had another goal harshly disallowed. Broghan Scully also looked to have scored but it was ruled that her effort had not crossed the line.

Second half saw Lowestoft up their game even more and full credit goes to Chloe Nixon who made two outstanding saves as well as several very good saves to deny Lowestoft more than the 5 goals which came from Zoe Cossey, a second for Natasha Thomas, a fourth for Hannah Waters and a very richly deserved hat-trick for Paige Shorten.

The most gratifying aspect was the manner of the performance which showcased so much of the things we have worked so hard on in training this season. The tempo, speed of thought, movement on and off the ball and ability to play from back to front with incisive passing was exceptional and it is a brand of football that has set the team apart from all its rivals this season.

Having such a good playing surface helped with the performance and huge thanks goes to all the ground staff at Acle for providing both teams with a superb playing surface.

There was many contenders for player of the match, Chloe Pierce whose distribution was a feature of our performance and is such a good listener, Paige Shorten who ran the show in centre mid, The front three of Zoe Cossey, Hannah Waters and Natasha Thomas who were all devastating but in the end it was Marcie Prettyman who deservedly gains the award and her focus, commitment, desire, ability and attitude are 100% spot on and a template for everyone. She richly deserved a goal but was foiled as she saw two excellent efforts well saved by Chloe Nixon.

A great way to finish what has been a history making season and it may be a very, very long time before the achievements of this season's Lowestoft Town ladies team are emulated. The 1982 team have their place in history and the team of 2014/15 also now have theirs and no amount of praise is enough for what they have achieved at this level of football. You all should be incredibly proud of your achievements and it's been a pleasure and a privilege to witness this season's performances.

A big thank you once again goes to Dan Burlingham and Bradley Mingay for all their help and support and our 3 fantastic sponsors, Brian and Alan at World of Fish who have so generously supported the team from day one. John Waters and Jonathan from Your Mortgage Solutions. We all appreciate your wonderful support and generosity. A final thanks goes to Mick and Ady for all their support, encouragement and well wishes and it makes you realize what a very, very special club we are all a part of and to that end we must all offer a huge debt of gratitude to our chairman Gary Keyzor who works tirelessly for the club.

The planning for next season must start right now as the challenges and demands of next season will be significantly greater as we welcome the teams of the like of Crystal Palace, MK Dons, Luton Town, Ipswich Town, Norwich City etc to Crown Meadow next season but the talent of the team is undeniable and there are some good young players who will continue to get better with age and experience.

The team will open their pre-season campaign with a glamour home friendly against Tottenham Hotspur ladies and pre-season training will commence on Tuesday 7 July at 7pm with venue to be confirmed
